How To Create An Award Winning, Emmy-inspired Look

We recently had the honour of working with celebrity stylist Clariss Rubenstein (@clarissanya on Instagram) for the 2018 Emmy Awards! Clariss created a beautiful, old hollywood (with a modern edge) look for Emmy-nominated Yvonne Strahovski.

For this look, Clariss says "I definitely wanted Yvonne’s look to have an element of old Hollywood elegance but with a touch of modern coolness. I used the Lunata to smooth out any curl at the root. Her hair has a ton of natural volume and texture so the Lunata smoothed it perfectly without deflating the hair and taking away its natural bounce.

I then set the hair in a classic pin curl setting with a severe side part. I added dry shampoo at the root and a light hairspray to the rest of the curl to hold it. I let the hair sit for about 30 minutes before letting the pin curls down. I used a Boar Bristle brush to brush through the curls to make them fluffy and not too perfect.

I then added pomade to the left side and tuck behind her ear. I spray the top so the height stays in place and add dry shampoo to the loose ends so it looks fluffy and a bit undone."
