Requested this as a gift for Christmas from my fiancé after reading multiple good reviews online. Unfortunately, I fell for the flash fashion version of straighteners, this defective device. For $200 dollars, you will receive a battery that charge for about 10-15 minutes and then politely stop working. Used the device once before a work event, and it stayed at 450 degrees for 5-7 minutes and then declined to 100 or so (unsure the exact but was not 450 or hand would of burned). The funny thing is the display stayed at 450 even though the plates were not hot.
Prior to even trying this device, the device box appeared to be opened with new tape applied. Inside of the box the straightener displayed signs of damage and abrasions along the shaft of the straightener and at the bottom, indicative that it had been dropped. We brought up our concerns because who doesn't love wasting their time. The customer service reps via email placated our concerns that the device had been damaged, and claimed the plastic packaging it came in likely caused the black abrasions. I have a background in construction and engineering, and my job encompasses damage assessment, so my responses were indicative of the plastic lining being unable to damage the thing it's made to hold, the straightener. The responses from customer service were the same, and they explained we could pursue a refund -however traveling for work and the holidays, we were unable to make the 15-day return mark. Now, we are stuck with a $200 defective straightener and the chance to make a warranty claim for it. Instead of dealing with customer service again and the long haul of mental capacity to handle their responses, we will forego that and donate this straightener. My hopes are someone who receives this donation will unbox the straighter and have the likelihood to leave a long-winded review on Lunata's website, as I did. If it's not evidenced by this review, please read others to make up your own mind in regard to putting your money toward a device like this.
