Frizzy hair solutions
Frizz is an unwelcome visitor–crashing what could have been a potentially great hair day. Send it packing with a few of our tips and say hello to more frizz-free days!
Think titanium
The Belisa by Lunata cordless curling wand and cordless curling iron have titanium barrels, which is a great heat conductor. Why does this matter? Not only does it save you time while you get ready, titanium can be more kind to your hair compared to other materials–especially with these curling tools, where the temperature is up to your control.
Our cordless curling wand and cordless curling iron both go up to 400ºF, but that might be too much for most hair types.
Flick the dial back to your sweet spot temperature for a quicker style that won’t fry your strands.
The less time you spend styling your hair means less damage, less dryness and more frizz!
Think moisture
As we enter into winter, feeding your hair that moisture it needs and is robbed of this season.
Switch up your hair routine to a more moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. Hair serums, hair oils and leave-in conditioners can also feature in your routine as needed. If you haven’t done so, consider doing a hair mask every week or whenever you feel dry.
For a moisturizing mane, look for the following ingredients: shea butter, olive oil, avocado oil and coconut oil.
Think friction
The cozy blankets, sweaters and hats you’re snuggling against might be one of the reasons why you’re getting frizz. No one is telling you to skip the woollens entirely-that’s way too cruel–and you don’t have to!
Consider switching to a silk pillowcase if frizz is an obstacle to morning styling. Wearing silk bonnets or silk turbans to bed are alternatives to the pillowcase to preserve curls and mitigate frizz.
And consider changing your winter beanie to an accessory with a relaxed fit like a loose knit hat or a cloche hat.
Swap your fuzzy cotton towel for microfibre or linen towels and pat or wring hair to dry.
Don’t forget the heat protectant and hairspray
Finish and set your hair with hairspray. While most of us aren’t getting out as often, we are often at home where heating is–or will be–on full blast. The heat can dry out hair and leave it frizzy.
And if you’re not using heat protectant before you style, now is the time to go out and buy some!
Don’t touch your hair
Too much manipulation–through your fingers, a comb or brush–can be another frizz factor.
Clips, pins and claws are your friends if you find yourself batting hair out of your face throughout the day.
Our Belisa by Lunata cordless curling wand and cordless curling iron are great tools if you find your hair going limp throughout the day. Your style should stay put–and with the titanium barrels, your hair will form a shape quickly to give you a style that can keep up with you and your day.
