Hair-raising horror stories
Ghost stories typically don't scare adults, so we won't share those gems over here.
Instead, we'll share a few terrifying real-life hair horror stories to bask in the festive Halloween spirit. These stories aren't meant to frighten you–though they might–but rather to learn from!
The more you know!
Bleaching bonanza
Chances are you've already heard of some terrifying bleaching experiences. Maybe a friend of a friend, a friend or you have had a botched bleach job. No judgment here!
Some adverse reactions can include a burning scalp, massive hair fallout, major regret or hair so brassy you don’t want to leave the house.
The moral of the story: If you're insisting upon doing it yourself, learn how to do it properly. Take your time and be cautious. If you don't know what you're doing, please go to a professional who can mitigate any pain–or tears. Save yourself from the tears!
Electronics going haywire abroad
Picture this: you're on a wonderful holiday with your loved ones. The weather is perfect, your skin is flawless, your outfits are immaculate and the backdrops are all Instagram worthy. But there’s just one hiccup: the electrical situation in your Airbnb is not so good.
And then there’s that one time on your vacation where your hair is not cooperating. So you’ve got to muzzle your frizzy hair into something sleek or wavy. You plug in your favorite, expensive heat tool and the fuse blows out. Your heat tool is dead and your hair is still the unsettled frizz ball you had from the start.
The moral of the story: The wiring in buildings can be a bit suspect, even in newer buildings. Exercise caution when bringing electronics and don't charge too many at a time.
Make sure to bring electronics that are dual voltage so you can avoid converters. The good news? All Lunata Beauty hair tools are dual voltage, including the hair straightener in our Jet Setter Kit. And if you're still scared to test the wiring at your holiday home, our hair straightener is also cordless!
Scary salon stories from your hairstylist
Hairstylists have horror stories. A lot of them. Like bartenders, they see people from all walks of life take a seat while they do their magic. They see a lot of things and some of their stories are creepy and hair-raising. Chances are your own stylist has a few choice stories of their own, but don't hold your breath for them to divulge them to you. A warning though, some of the linked stories are not just creepy, but really gross. Be prepared!
The moral of the story: Please be a good client. Take a shower, dress well and be courteous to your stylist. And be honest with your stylist, even if you're embarrassed about coming in with a botched at-home job.
Also, sometimes all that you might need is a good brush!
