Six Hair Styling Tips to Upgrade Your Curls
Want to put some more oomph into your beach waves? What about amping up the drama on your glamorous curls? Use our tips–combined with some great tools from our Belisa by Lunata line – to upgrade your curls and take them to the next level!
First, check to see if your hair tools are cutting it. Our Cordless Curling Iron With Clip or Cordless Curling Wand are affordable and high-performing curlers!
USE A HEAT PROTECTANT
Constant heat styling will damage your hair to some extent. Keep that damage to a minimum and spray a heat protectant liberally before you heat style with any tool – not just our Cordless Curling Iron With Clip or Cordless Curling Wand.
DON’T STAY ON SECTIONS FOR TOO LONG
If your heat tool is good, you won’t need to hold sections on the barrel for too long. If your hair is resistant to curls, try holding the sections for a maximum of 10 seconds.
If you hold sections on the barrel for too long, not only will your hair get heat damage but curls will look less than perfect.
Make sure the sections are curled for roughly the same amount of time so that curls look consistent.
Adjust the heat settings higher if you find you’re holding sections on for too long.
EASE OFF THE HIGH TEMPERATURE
It’s better to curl hair starting with lower temperatures to get to know your sweet spot. Our Cordless Curling Iron With Clip and Cordless Curling Wand can both reach temperatures of up to 400ºF.
While that means that the stylers can work on most hair types, it doesn’t mean everyone can use the highest setting. A good starting temperature can be 325ºF and work your way up or down the range until you get your perfect temperature.
USE CLIPS
Sectioning is everything–especially if you have long or thick hair. Depending on how much hair you’re working with, clips can help you create equal and crisp sections to curl.
Clips also make curling and styling hair a lot easier. Combined with a cordless curling tool, creating your hairstyle can be a quick and painless process!
GO FOR EQUAL SECTIONS ON THE BARREL
Aim for equal sections on the barrel to curl. The width of the sections will also vary depending on your style.
If you’re creating beach waves, sections between one to two inches should be fine wrapped around the Cordless Curling Wand.
Want tighter curls? Try for half-inch to one-inch sections on your Cordless Curling Iron With Clip or twist larger sections along the barrel.
USE TEXTURE SPRAY
You don’t have to use our Cordless Curling Wand or Cordless Curling Iron With Clip every day. The beauty of our tools is that they can retain hair styles for a few days. Use a texture spray to lift roots and help hold curly styles!
