Splurge or Save: Beauty Staples

If influencers and the online beauty community have been factoring in some of your purchase behaviour, it could be worth it to reevaluate your budget.

Having trouble discerning where to save and spend? We’ve got you with a roundup on where to spend on haircare.

SPLURGE on high-end non-consumables

When it comes to non-consumables like tech, pay a little more up front rather than cut costs. Quality matters and buying better once will save you money down the line––a hard lesson to anyone who’s had to buy the same thing every few years!

Our cordless styler plus+ and convertible cordless curling wand/iron are as stylish as they are high performing. The titanium plates and lithium-ion battery allow you to style your hair efficiently and can be used to touch up or create a style that can last for a day or two.

While the cordless flat iron and convertible cordless curling wand have their silicone covers, store your investment in a case to make them last. The pack me up case can withstand high temperatures (180ºF) in case you can’t wait before you need to be on the move–just make sure to keep the silicone covers on and wait a few moments for tools to cool before stashing them inside. The case can also stash a few styling tools, like a mini brush and a mini hairspray or can accommodate the styler plus+ and the convertible curling wand.

SAVE on consumables

For basics like shampoo, conditioner and styling products, it’s worth it to balance cost with effectiveness.

If you have a favourite, go for the biggest size. Not only are you saving on packaging, but the cost-per-use will likely be the lowest. If you’re looking for a new shampoo or conditioner, try bulk or bar forms. Both cost less and are comparable to bottled versions or are longer-lasting.

Similarly, for hairspray and other styling products that you use often, it’s best to balance performance with cost!

Our hold me down hairspray and make me last dry shampoo are travel-sized and under $15! Perfect for toting in your purse, work tote or weekender!

SAVE on basic non-consumables

Hairpins and hair ties have a short lifespan before they break or get lost in a void. You either have 50 at a time or are constantly hunting for them. Save your money and buy them in bulk so you’re never short or have to ask someone for one. Stash them everywhere!

Similarly, you don’t have to spend a lot for a great brush. Our detangle me brush also comes in a mini size and can be used wet or dry. And they come in at under $30.

SPLURGE on scissors

As everyone who’s ever done a quarantine haircut knows, scissors are everything when it comes to a cut you don't want to hide under a hat.

Save yourself from tears or haircut regret with our groom me hair cutting kit. It has two salon-quality shears for cutting and thinning. The kit includes alligator clips to section hair and two different combs to use in conjunction with the scissors!
